Information Architecture

  • Information architecture (IA)
  • Wire frames
  • Wire frame skeleton
  • Clickable wire frames
  • Content plan
  • Functional specification
  • Technical specification
  • Formal creative brief
  • Usability testing

In the Information Architecture phase we re-categorise your information and define your site hierarchy - how your website behaves in response to the user travelling through the site - the arrangement of content elements within the 'information space'.

We'll create...

  • A content map to help with re-categorisation of your content
  • An information architecture diagram, (usually starting life as a big Post-itT note workshop)

Development of the wireframe skeleton follows the information architecture diagram. This is all about the layout of information blocks, navigation design and interface design.

We'll develop...

  • Wireframes (includes process flows and page description diagrams)
  • Clickable interactive wire frames if required for user testing
  • A full content plan

Finally, if the project requires it, we'll write formal specification documents:

  • Functional specification
  • Technical specification
  • Formal creative brief

This project was my first with S8080. Their Information Architecture process (a very comprehensive alignment session, site diagrams and detailed wire frames) enabled S8080 to bring all of their usability and accessibility knowledge to the table and provided us with quick prototypes to comment on and sign off. The design phase involved two creative routes, each of which would have stood up in their own right..... It's been a breath of fresh air working with you all!
