S8080 CMS 5.0 - what it is:

  • S8080 CMS 5.0 is an agile content management system used by many public sector departments, NGO's, NPO's and small to medium sized organisations and companies
  • Web based CMS - nothing to install (that usually reduces IT team headaches in your organisation, means quicker roll-outs and ensures we can supply you with the latest updates quickly)
  • The secure administration system so you can update your site from anywhere in the world
  • Proven functionality - version 1.0 was built back in 2002 (there are still some clients using it!) We have rolled our CMS out to many organisations including HM Cabinet Office, Dept of Health, NHS, Department of Energy and Climate Change, South Wales Police, Visit Wales, Welsh Assembly Government, National Assembly for Wales, Consumer Focus and many more.
  • It has been designed by usability experts so it is very, very easy to use
  • By the way it is bilingual too (because of our unique location - see about us)

Agile? What do you mean?

Quick and easy to implement, quick and easy to change and not tied down by a cumbersome technical infrastructure.

The majority of CMS websites look like they are driven by a content management system – where designs are constrained into rigid boxy layouts. We pride ourselves in building information and campaign marketing web sites that don't look content managed but actually are, wander through our work and you'll see what we mean.

And what it is not

  • S8080 CMS 5.0 is not an 'Enterprise Content Management System' (however we do the Information Architecture and User Experience work and then design and build templates for many organisations who then implement these into their large scale Enterprise CMS's - see templates for your CMS).
  • S8080 CMS 5.0 is perfect to power a government department, SME, charity or a marketing campaign website. We wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for it to power the whole of the NHS (but it is perfect for their sub-sites -  Healthy Start and Breast Feeding as it's far more agile than an Enterprise CMS).
  • It's not a document management system
  • It's not an open-soucre CMS, but we can build you a Joomla, Drupal or Wordpress driven site if you would prefer

Our short (but long!) list of key features and functionality:

  • Management of page text content (WYSIWYG editor allows you to update everything)
  • Upload files to the CMS (automatic image resizing, upload Word, PDF, Excel, Flash, video, audio and advertising Banners)
  • Easily build rich CMS pages (add text and images, highlighted text blocks, metadata, 'see also' panels, tables, feedback forms, Google maps and directions, news stories, profile groups, cross-promo boxes and custom code blocks for Techies)
  • Image library and asset manager to keep all your photos in one place
  • Website structure and navigation is all updateable (create, copy and move site pages, automatically builds navigation, automatic site map, navigation bread crumbs, editable navigation menus, inbuilt site search)
  • Administration rights, privileges and access (secure web based administration system, draft mode, more than one site administrator can be added, SSL connection)
  • CMS work flow and moderation (site publishing, change report, audit trail, roll back, restrict administration access down to the page level)
  • Bilingual functionality (English / Welsh page for page toggle)
  • Multilingual capability
  • Human friendly URL's to help search engines
  • Built to the latest web standards (W3C WAI AA, CSS & XHTML)
  • Social media optimisation (tagging and bookmarking)
  • Web traffic reporting - Google Analytics and Google Site Map

Other Plug-ins (we are adding to this list all the time)

  • email broadcaster
  • Blog
  • News
  • Poll
  • Forum
  • Events and Calendar
  • Password protected area

...and of course we do lots of bespoke development to add functionality or make tweaks to the existing applications so they are perfect for your organisation -that's why we say it's 'agile'.

Technology

Built on the Microsoft .NET platform and MS SQL, S8080 CMS 5.0 can be hosted on one of our dedicated managed servers with one of our hosting partners or rolled out to your own web server.

"Looks great but we've already got a CMS"

If you have already procured a CMS but need a design refresh and overhaul we can help you with the user experience, information architecture and creative design elements, providing you with handover documents and all of the assets you'll need for your implementation - we have lots of experience in building templates for many different CMS systems see: Templates for your CMS.

On first seeing the feature list for the new S8080 CMS, I was honestly surprised how similar it was to my own CMS feature wish list. Any features I had thought of or seen in use on other systems were included.

From the straight forward [Social network integration, user friendly URLs and inbuilt site content searching] to the more advanced. [advanced Google map integration, multi template e-broadcasts, bespoke blog engine with comment & ratings functions and news & events feeds with tag cloud and auto archiving functionality.] All were covered.

Adding these page elements within other CMS' would normally be problematic, technical and time consuming but with the S8080 system, it is as simple as selecting your feature from a drop down and dragging and dropping it into position on the page and adding your content. All the complex coding is taken care of behind the scenes.

And as the interfaces have been designed by S8080 too, they are all intuitive, functional, crisp and clean. In my 2 months using the S8080 CMS nearly every day, I have yet to experience any frustration with the system and have yet to find something I want it to do that it can't.
